Birds without borders

To coincide with the return of the Turtle Dove to our shores, the summer edition of the RSPB’s Birds magazine carries an article by natural history writer, Mike Unwin, charting the trials and tribulations suffered by the migratory Turtle Dove; from it’s sub-saharan wintering quarters where ideal habitats are disappearing, over desert regions and hunting grounds, to its breeding quarters in the south-east of England where once again food sources are becoming scarce.
